SMX West 2012: Biggest Search Geek Unveiled

Marin Software and SMX West recognize Robert Miller as the winner of the fourth-annual SMX Biggest Search Geek Contest

San Francisco, CA February 28, 2012 - Marin Software, provider of the leading online advertising management platform for advertisers and agencies, and SMX West today announced that Tomislav Maric, Director of Performance Marketing at Beeby Clark+Meyler, has been named “Biggest Search Geek” in the U.S. and U.K., beating out more than 2000 contestants to take home the top prize. Maric was recognized onstage today at SMX West by conference chair and Search Engine Land editor-in-chief Danny Sullivan.

The fourth annual Biggest Search Geek contest drew record number of contestants. The contest – the most challenging one yet – was open to anyone with the mettle to answer 20 tough questions about the ins-and-outs of search marketing.

“In this case, it’s a great honor to be a called a ‘geek’,” said Maric. “With thousands of others in the search marketing field competing in this year’s contest, I’m honored to be selected by Marin Software and SMX as this year’s winner – and I truly do feel like the world’s biggest search geek.”

With a top score of 90 percent, Maric handily beat out the competition, completing the contest in 24 minutes and 17 seconds. As the winner, Maric received a round-trip ticket for two to SMX West, as well as an Apple iPad 2. Second and third place winners, Chrisopher Collins and Umut Dincer also each received an Apple iPad2.
